Employment, Compensation and Working Hours
According to Job Outlook, employment rate in the profession has grown significantly in the past five years and is seen to continue to grow until 2016. Notably, in Victoria, the number of social workers continues to grow. The state carries over 40% of all social workers in Australia, the site Live in Victoria notes.

As for work shifts, Job Outlook reports that full-time social workers have average weekly working hours of 35.8, as compared to the average of 41.3 for all other occupations. Social workers also receive an average of $1,000 a week (before tax) as compared to the average $900 of all other career options.
